Farshid was born in Iran in 1971. His music reflects his interest in contemporary classical vocabulary, spectral analysis, and extended techniques. In addition his profound faith in Unity in Diversity, has stirred him toward integration and synthesis of different ethnic musics and vocabulary in his music.

“since verbis” is a song for a masked ensemble symbolizing the effort to communicate against various types of censorship. The vocalist will sing with the mask on, like an invocation, though not able to form full sentences.

Shadows, indeed, may indicate the sun’s presence,
But only the sun displays the light of life.
Breath of Life aims to reconcile Persian and Western music. Persian angular phrases have renovated the baroque sonatina form, while species counterpoint has altered elaborations on different tetrachords of dastgáh-i-dashti. This piece proposes a plausible course to become “ the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch.”
