Robert Zollitsch (born in 1966 in Munich, Germany) is a composer and music producer. He has established himself as a popular composer for Chinese instrumental and vocal music in China, where he is known as Lao Luo (Chinese: 老锣; pinyin: Lǎo Luó, literally “Old Ro/Gong“[1].Zollitsch has been producing and working with Chinese musicians and singers, such as Gong Linna, Urna, Du Cong, Qiu Ji, Luo Yan. His music for traditional Chinese instruments uses western harmonies and fuses together elements from different cultures,
Zollitsch grew up with the folk music from his home region, learning the Bavarian zither since a young age. From 1986 to 1990, he studied music theory and graduated from the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin. In 1993, he was awarded a scholarship to study Chinese traditional music and the qin, Chinese zither, in Shanghai. Since 2003, Robert Zollitsch has lived in Beijing, China. He has written and produced, under his own label, KuKu Music, over a dozen recordings of contemporary Chinese art music, all of which have caused a sensation in Europe, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. In February 2011, during the celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year, his new work “Tan Te” (Perturbed) sung by his wife Gong Linna was an instant hit throughout China through the hundreds of thousands of viewing on the internet.
老鑼(德语:Robert Zollitsch,直譯為羅伯特·佐里奇,1966年4月9日生於德國慕尼黑)是德国作曲家和音樂製作人。2011年,他的妻子歌手龔琳娜在湖南衛视跨年晚會上演唱了他的作品《忐忑》,並透過網路廣為流傳,老鑼迅速的在中國成為家喻戶曉的作曲家。自2003年起,老鑼開始定居于中国北京。
