Yang Xue, internationally renowned erhu soloist, is the doctoral supervisor and the head of the Strings Teaching & Research Office in the Traditional Chinese Music Department at the Central Conservatory of Music in China. She has won several prestigious awards and grants, including the first place in the 8th Taipei International Traditional Chinese Instrument Concerto Competition, the National Art Fund Individual Project, the Beijing Young Talents Program, and the Beijing Talent Cooperation Project. Winning a silver award at the 2020 Global Music Awards, her CD was also nominated for the 18th Annual USA Independent Music Awards. She has given numerous solo concerts and lectures and premiered groundbreaking solo, chamber, and concerto works in China and abroad in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa, collaborating with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Yang formed the “Bows and Strings’ Dance” Huqin Ensemble, which has commissioned and premiered numerous works, such as “Bows and Strings ‘Dance” and “Red Velvet”. With the ensemble, she has published a series of textbooks and CDs and gained the reputation as one of the pioneers in the field of erhu ensemble performance.
